Garage Door Before & After in Brooklyn, NY

Before and after photos tell you more about a garage door company than any ad copy. They show whether the tech measured twice, whether the tracks sit true, whether the finished job looks like it belongs on your house. Here are a few representative transformations from jobs we’ve handled across Brooklyn. No staging, just the work.

Recent Transformations

Bent Track Replacement in Park Slope

Before: lower track bowed from a car bump. After: new 12-gauge track, aligned with laser level.

The homeowner backed into the lower track and bent it about four inches out of line. The door still opened, but the rollers were grinding and the cables were wearing unevenly. We replaced the bent section, re-aligned both tracks with a laser, and reset the cable tension so the door lifted without drag. The finished door runs quiet enough that the family noticed the difference the first morning.

Spring Replacement and Rebalance in Bay Ridge

Before: snapped torsion spring above a dead door. After: new matched spring pair, door balanced at half-open.

A torsion spring let go on a Friday night. The door sat dead on the floor, too heavy for one person to lift safely. We replaced the broken spring with a matched pair and wound them to balance the door at the halfway point. The opener no longer strains, and the door closes with that soft thump instead of a slam.

Opener Upgrade in Williamsburg

Before: 1990s chain-drive opener, loose chain, slow travel. After: belt-drive unit on new mounting rail, whisper-quiet.

The old opener had a chain that sagged and a motor that sounded like a coffee grinder. The homeowner works from home, and the garage sits directly under the office. We pulled the old unit, installed a belt-drive opener, and re-mounted everything with rubber isolators. Now the only way you know the door is moving is when you see it move.

Full Panel Replacement After Storm Damage in Marine Park

Before: bottom two panels dented and rusted after a nor’easter. After: new panels matched to original color, new weatherstripping.

Salt air and a hard winter had done a number on the lower panels. They were dented, the paint was bubbling, and water was getting past the bottom seal. We measured the door, ordered panels matched to the existing Clopay color, and installed new weatherstripping around the sides and bottom. The door looks like it was installed last week, and the garage floor stays dry now.

Roller and Hinge Overhaul in Gravesend

Before: seized steel rollers, worn hinges, loud operation. After: nylon rollers, new hinges, quiet lift.

This door hadn’t been serviced in years. The steel rollers had flat spots, two hinges were cracked, and the whole assembly rattled every time the door moved. We replaced all rollers with nylon, swapped the worn hinges, and lubricated the springs and bearings with a pet-safe lubricant. The homeowner’s dog used to bark every time the door opened. Now he sleeps through it.

New Door Installation in Ditmas Park

Before: original 1960s wood door, water-damaged lower section. After: insulated steel door with new track system and seals.

The old wood door had absorbed decades of moisture and the bottom section was soft to the touch. We removed the entire system, installed a new insulated steel door with fresh tracks, and set the opener limits so the door seals properly. The garage holds its temperature better, and the new door actually matches the house trim better than the old one ever did.
